Whether you like it or not, Christmas is just around the corner. You may hold an annual grudge against high street stores selling Christmas paraphernalia too early and be stubborn in admitting that the jolly red man is on his way, but regardless of your stance, to quote an agonisingly addictive fizzy drink advert, holidays are coming!
So you’ve got two options, you can either be an organisational Christmas wizard who flies around the shops grabbing bargains quicker than Rudolf on a bitter winters night, or you can be a retail Ebenezer who consciously decides to ignore all Christmas spirit until the eve upon which you are left fighting the swarms of fellow cynics for the last dented box of chocolates. I certainly know which I’d rather be, so as those cold evenings close in, lend some time in considering some of the hottest Christmas gifts for 2011.
1: Amazon Kindle
Amazon’s e-Reading sensation looks set to top a lot of people’s Christmas lists again this year. With thousands of online books now available through Amazon’s online store and within most people’s Christmas budget (£111.00 – £152.00), the Kindle is a practical, cool and accessible gadget great for all age ranges.
2: Just Dance 3 (Multiple Consoles)
Following the enormous and surprising success of Just Dance and Just Dance 2 which have sold a combined 10 million copies, the video game Just Dance 3 looks let set to make fools of us all once again this Christmas. The game is set for release on the 11th October, and is packed with over 60 tracks, which will undoubtedly provide the backdrop to some quite embarrassing holiday videos.
3: Spa Vouchers
Spa vouchers are a great gift any year but as well all continue to work longer hours and take shorter holidays, pamper days have become a great way of refreshing and rejuvenating ourselves. Spa vouchers also give others the opportunity to buy the treatments they desire and they can return to work after the holidays feeling like a new person.
4: Blu Ray Players
This is the year that Blu Ray players have really started to drop significantly in price and in the lead up to Christmas you’re certain to find a Blu Ray bargain. There are now a wide range of Bly Ray movies dominating our high street stores and for those that seek the highest quality in home entertainment, this is definitive gift.
5: iPods
IPods come in all shapes and sizes and have been popular Christmas gifts for the last 10 years now. This year’s sought after model is most likely to be the fifth generation iPod Touch, due for release sometime at the beginning of October. Details are still sketchy but going by Apple’s previous sales figures, this is certain to be hot property.
6: Nintendo 3DS
This is most likely to be the single biggest selling item this Christmas and will be on the wanted lists of adults and children alike. Nintendo’s recent history of reaching the mass market whilst managing to retain enough originality to keep hardcore gaming fans interested is a formula that has continued through their release of the first 3D handheld console in history.
Scott Cole is a writer who would be happy to receive any of the above items as a gift this Christmas.
